It was such a pretty day, I decided to forego my after-church siesta in favor of a little hike on the mountains-to-sea and realized
"the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed (to cars)!"...
How often does one get to walk down the middle of a beautiful country road without the threat of being run over?

Yep, it will most likely be closed for weeks, if not the rest of the season. Sometimes the stretch that spans Asheville is plowed and opened in winter, but everything north of the Brevard Rd / Hwy 191 (heading towards Pisgah) will be closed until spring.
Bike riders LOVE it; yesterday there were a dozen or more cars parked at the Brevard Road exit whose owners are riding on the empty parkway.
