Grace sent me this picture today; it shows her chaperoning a field trip to a local middle school where a Challenger Learning Center had been set up... she said the students enjoyed their time in the mock space lab and their experiments using robotic arms... now that soccer season is over, I may actually be able to find a weekend to drive down and spend a little time with her myself.

Sunday, November 1st
The day after the end of something special is naturally melancholy... don't think I'd have avoided that feeling even had we won it all... as parents start to post pictures, I'll share a few; these are from the state championship game:

Tommy George eluding a would-be tackler...
Joe Barker parries the ball out of harm's way...

State Championship Game

These boys played their hearts out and came up a goal short of knocking off the top team in their division this afternoon. St. Davids was the better team today, but I couldn't be any prouder of our boys... truly champions in my book! Maybe now that the season is over, the middle toe on Tim's left foot will have a chance to heal; he broke it about a month ago, and we've been taping it ever since... I leave you with a picture of our seniors, with their state runner-up trophy and medals.

State Semi-Final
We won 2-0, and play St. David's (the #1 seed) tomorrow at 2:00. St. David's is 21-1-1, and hasn't lost since the first game of the season (a 3-2 loss to the team we just beat!) Here they are lined up for their semi-final (which they won 3-2 right before we played)...
We are extremely proud of the boys for the way they are playing... win or lose, tomorrow will be Tim's last high school soccer game; this dad is thankful that it's with a State Championship on the line!
