Wednesday, November 4th

Grace sent me this picture today; it shows her chaperoning a field trip to a local middle school where a Challenger Learning Center had been set up... she said the students enjoyed their time in the mock space lab and their experiments using robotic arms... now that soccer season is over, I may actually be able to find a weekend to drive down and spend a little time with her myself.

Election Day

We made Election Day our parent/teacher conference & blood-drive day... conferences were held last night and all day today, and some of our teachers, like 5th-grade-veteran-par-excellence Jim Goffin rolled up their sleeves and gave a pint!

Sunday, November 1st

The day after the end of something special is naturally melancholy... don't think I'd have avoided that feeling even had we won it all... as parents start to post pictures, I'll share a few; these are from the state championship game:
TK in position for a header...Tommy George eluding a would-be tackler...Joe Barker parries the ball out of harm's way...

State Championship Game

These boys played their hearts out and came up a goal short of knocking off the top team in their division this afternoon. St. Davids was the better team today, but I couldn't be any prouder of our boys... truly champions in my book!
Maybe now that the season is over, the middle toe on Tim's left foot will have a chance to heal; he broke it about a month ago, and we've been taping it ever since... I leave you with a picture of our seniors, with their state runner-up trophy and medals.(L2R) Sammy Feinberg, Harrison McGinnis, Philip Richardson, Thomas George, Jonathan Jonas, TK, Jared Fontaine, Ryan Ledford... Jared and Tim were named to the All-State team.

State Semi-Final

We won 2-0, and play St. David's (the #1 seed) tomorrow at 2:00. St. David's is 21-1-1, and hasn't lost since the first game of the season (a 3-2 loss to the team we just beat!) Here they are lined up for their semi-final (which they won 3-2 right before we played)...
We are extremely proud of the boys for the way they are playing... win or lose, tomorrow will be Tim's last high school soccer game; this dad is thankful that it's with a State Championship on the line!

Thursday, October 29th

This is the picture posted on this blog October 21st of last year; it shows the author leading High Point Christian Academy and ACA in a prayer of thanksgiving after they eliminated us from that year's state playoffs 2-1... it was in fact the third time they had beaten us in 2008. We haven't played yet this year, but still remember them quite well, and hope to come out on top this go-round. They are a classy, well-coached team and we look forward to competing like brothers! Game time 6:00 @Westchester Academy (High Point, NC)
